MODULE SEVEN: LESSON TWO

Reviewing Your Site on Mobile

Now that you know why mobile optimization matters, let’s talk about how to actually preview your site on mobile… both inside Squarespace and on your real devices.

Squarespace makes it easy to see a mobile preview while you’re editing, but there are a few limitations to be aware of. In this lesson, I’ll walk you through exactly how to check your site’s mobile view and the best way to test how your site really looks to your readers.

How to Preview Your Site on Mobile in Squarespace

While editing your site in Squarespace:

  1. Click the Preview button in the top-right corner of your editor.

  2. In the preview window, toggle the mobile icon (usually shaped like a little phone) to see how your site appears on smaller screens.

This is a fast way to get a sense of how your content stacks, how text flows, and whether anything looks immediately off.

The Limitations of Squarespace’s Mobile Preview

While Squarespace’s preview is a great starting point, it’s not perfect. It provides a generalized mobile view, but:

  • It doesn’t represent every screen size or phone type.

  • Some alignment or spacing issues might not show up here.

  • Certain fonts, image cropping, or button sizes might behave differently on real devices.

That’s why I always recommend going beyond the built-in preview.

How to Test Your Site on Real Devices

Once you’ve previewed inside Squarespace, it’s time to:

  1. Publish (or preview) your changes.

  2. Open your website link on your actual phone and tablet.

  3. If you have access to both iPhone and Android devices, check on both. screens and browsers can render things differently.

  4. Scroll through each page, click every button, and test the navigation.

Pro Tip: Ask a friend or family member to look at your site on their phone too. fresh eyes can spot things you might miss!

Action Steps

  1. Use Squarespace’s mobile preview mode to review every key page on your site.

  2. Open your website on a real phone or tablet and navigate through all pages.

  3. Make notes of any issues you see, like text that’s too small, images that look off, or buttons that are hard to tap.

  4. Check your mobile navigation menu to ensure it’s easy to use.
