Final Mobile Checklist
You’ve made your mobile adjustments. now it’s time to do a final test and make sure everything looks great in the real world. Squarespace previews are helpful, but nothing beats seeing your site on an actual device.
This lesson will walk you through the final steps to test your live site, plus I’ve included a quick mobile optimization checklist you can refer back to anytime.
Step 1: View Your Site on a Real Device
Once you’ve saved all your changes:
Open your site on your phone. if you have a tablet, check there too.
Browse every page just like a reader would.
Test:
Clicking through menus
Tapping buttons
Scrolling through each section
Viewing images and text together
This is the best way to catch things that might have looked fine in preview but feel awkward when navigating naturally.
Step 2: Get a Second Opinion
Ask a friend, family member, or fellow author to pull up your site on their device and give feedback. Sometimes fresh eyes will catch spacing issues, navigation problems, or text that feels smaller than you realized.
Step 3: Make Any Final Tweaks
If you catch anything that still feels off:
Adjust text size, spacing, or button padding.
Replace any images that are cropping awkwardly on mobile.
Simplify any sections that feel too busy or overwhelming on a small screen.
Mobile Optimization Checklist
✓ Text is large enough to read without zooming
✓ Headings still stand out and are easy to spot
✓ Images display correctly without awkward cropping
✓ Buttons are big enough to tap comfortably
✓ Menus are easy to open and navigate
✓ Sections have enough spacing… not too crowded, not too empty
✓ All links and buttons work properly
✓ The site loads quickly on mobile
